It's the dichotomy of the traditional and modern, jarring against each other yet somehow still functioning, that make this city an absolute wonderland. Rooted by the Djemaa el-Fna square and 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque, its bustling medina is a tangle of fragrant souks, hidden gardens, ornate palaces and ancient tombs.
